Springtime grass cleanup

The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum’s Ornamental Grass Collection is very flat this spring of 2011, due to heavy snow for 123 days. Warm season ornamental grasses grow better when they are cut or burned back in the spring. Cool season grasses benefit from a clean up, but care must be taken to not harm the new growth.
