Burning Grasses Spring 2011

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

In just a few seconds grasses quickly burn, as seen in the slide show above. April 25, 2011 was a good day to burn; the plants were dry and there was little wind. Note the nonflammable fire protection suits worn by the grounds crew. Fire is started with a drip torch. Surrounding plants are protected by saturating with water prior to starting the fire. Fire is not an option for most people, see Grass Clean Up for other ways to clean up grasses in the spring.
