Feather reedgrass foliage variation

Feather reedgrass is the most popular landscape grass. It’s so pretty and well behaved, no seeding and stiff and upright. The other members of Calamagrostis are not as well known, shown here are ‘Avalanche’, far right, then ‘Overdam’, and in the center is ‘Karl Forester’, way in the top right are the yellow variegated forms, ‘El Dorado’ and ‘Art’s Gold’. These cool season grasses love the cool days of spring when they grow quickly. It’s easier to see the variegation in their foliage in early spring. By mid-summer, the white striped forms are more green. Second photo shows the yellow forms: ‘El Dorado’ is on the right, and ‘Art’s Gold’ left.
