Grasses that flowered in April 2012

What a beautiful early spring we have had this year! March was as warm as a normal May and many plants grew early and leafed out several weeks ahead of schedule. The mild winter meant little snow and many grasses were growing in March. Here is a list of what flowered in April in 2012. Most of these will continue flowering for a few weeks, and the seedheads will be visible for a while.
Carex pensylvanica, Carex radiata, Carex plantaginea, Carex sprengelii, Carex morrowii ‘Silver Sceptre’, Carex davalliana, Carex elata ‘Aurea’, Hierochloe odorata, and Sesleria caerulea.
