Feather reedgrass in flower

Feather reedgrass is so beautiful in flower, and fortunately the seedheads remain showy for most of the year. The center grass in this photo is Calamagrostis xacutiflora ‘El Dorado’, the new yellow striped form, showing the reddish, pink color of the flowers at anthesis or pollen shed, which is peak flowering. the grass on the left is ‘Art’s Gold’ another yellow striped form, and on the right is the fall blooming Calamagrostis brachytricha. Photo taken on June 25, 2012 in Minnesota.
